Ballytherm

Ballytherm is a strong, rigid board-type insulation that is well suited for use in damp areas like basements, or any area where flame retardation is desirable, like between apartment units. The foil-faced, Polyisocyanurate (PIR) rigid board insulation is created via a continuous foaming process that creates a tight cell structure and an inseparable bond between the foil and board. The yellow foam insulation is faced with a company logo-embossed foil, is cut to order specifications and allowed to cure before delivery.

Dimensions

Ballytherm insulation board can be custom made up to 200mm thickness when requested, but comes in standard sizes that range from 2400mm by 1200mm and range between 25mm and 150mm in thickness. The standard boards are butt-edged, rebated, tongue and groove, and Bespoke sizes are also available upon request.

Appearance

Ballytherm insulation boards have a yellow foam core with laminated foil facings printed with the company logo.

Structural

Ballytherm is a strong, rigid board suitable for self-supporting applications in floors, walls and roofs.

It can withstand the loadings in groundbearing floors.

Thermal performace

The Polyisocyanurate (PIR) foam core of Ballytherm insulation boards has an extremely low thermal conductivity, making the required thickness of insulation less than for most other types of insulation and making it an ideal choice where you are restricted with depth. The foil laminate facings of Ballytherm boards also contribute to improved thermal performance and the low emissivity surface of the reflective foil can cut radiation heat transfer across an adjoining air space.

Fire Resistance

In the event of fire, Ballytherm insulation boards will remain stable at temperatures up to 400ºC and has achieved Class 1 surface spread of flame. If temperatures reach higher than 400ºC, a protective char forms on the surface on the boards to slow the spread of flames. Ballytherm insulation board may be used safely behind non-flammable materials such as plasterboard.

Environmental Impact

Ballytherm insulation boards have a low thermal conductivity, which means less of the product is needed to achieve the desired thermal resistance and the tight-cell, rigid construction is designed for longevity. The insulation boards are also produced with a zero ozone depletion blowing agent.

Biological and Moisture Resistance

Ballytherm is created to be mould, pest and insect free and the boards will never rot. The foam boards have a low moisture absorption capacity and high vapour resistance.

Durability

The strong, rigid construction of Ballytherm insulation boards gives it the ability to withstand the weight of load-bearing floors. When the product is installed according to manufacturer’s specifications and industry codes of practice, the insulation boards have a service life comparable to that of the rest of the building.
