Building Membranes
Take a look at our range of building membranes and accessories ready to seal and protect your home or building. A building membrane is a thin water-resistant layer that is used to protect the interior of a building from moisture and condensation. Youll find anything from airtight membranes to roofing and wall membranes. For those extra touches we stock radon and polythene, roofing felt, and even vapour control layers to protect your space from dampness.
If youre looking to seal external spaces, a breather membrane is ideal for preventing outside moisture from getting in (while still allowing moisture from inside the building to escape), whilst a vapour control membrane reduces the chance of condensation forming inside a building. Remember to finish off your project and protect your membrane sheets. We offer a range of membrane tapes available to securely connect sheets of overlapped membrane, seal off where nails have been driven through underlay, and generally make a build more waterproof and draftproof.
Why is it so important to use building membranes? Moisture from the outside (such as rain) and moisture created inside (from a warm bath for example) can cause damage to the finish and structure of a building due to dampness and mould. Not only is damp and mould bad for a building, it isnt good for your belongings or, most importantly, for your health either.
We stock building membranes from Proctor, Klober, Tyvec, and Dupont, and you can refine by Category or Colour on the left-hand side of this page. Need expert advice? Call 020 3481 1978 or talk to us via our Live Chat.

Building membranes are essential components in the construction industry, providing solutions for waterproofing, vapour control, and air tightness in various structures. These products come in different forms and materials, each designed to address specific needs in building envelopes.
Torch-On Membranes
Torch-on membranes like the Danosa Trade Torch On SBS Mineral Cap Sheet offer robust waterproofing for flat roofs. These are heat-applied, ensuring a secure and long-lasting bond to the roofing substrate, ideal for new construction or refurbishing existing roofs.
Self-Adhesive Membranes
Products such as Wraptite offer a self-adhesive option for creating vapour-permeable, airtight layers. Easy to apply, these membranes are suitable for use in walls and roofs, enhancing the building's overall energy efficiency.
Fire-Retardant Membranes
Fire safety is paramount, and materials like Tyvek Firecurb Housewrap are engineered to slow the spread of flames, providing extra protection for buildings while also functioning as effective weather barriers.
Vapour Control Layers
Vapour control is crucial in preventing condensation. Products ranging from Tyvek Airguard Reflective Vapour Barriers to Procheck Premier 500 Vapour Control Layers help manage vapour ingress and improve insulation.
Damp Proof Membranes (DPM)
Heavy-duty options like 1200 Gauge Visqueen Vapour Barrier DPM are designed to resist moisture from the ground, essential in preventing damp issues in both residential and commercial buildings.
Reflective Membranes
Reflective membranes, such as Reflectashield TF 0.81, offer thermal benefits by reflecting radiant heat, contributing to thermal comfort and energy savings.
Breather Membranes
Breather membranes, including the Black+ Ultra Roof and Wall Breather Membrane, provide protection against moisture ingress while allowing the building to breathe, thus preventing mould growth and structural damage.
Acoustic Membranes
For sound insulation, products like Soprema Tecsound are designed to significantly reduce noise transmission, ideal for use in walls, ceilings, and floors in various building types.
Gas Barriers
Specialised membranes like Methane Pro Hi Performance Gas Barrier are used to protect buildings from harmful ground gases such as radon, methane, and CO2.
Accessory Tapes
Accessory tapes like Tyvek Flexwrap and Double Sided Butyl Tape are crucial for sealing joints and ensuring the continuity of the membrane systems.
When selecting a building membrane, it is important to consider the specific requirements of your project, such as the need for waterproofing, vapour control, thermal insulation, fire retardancy, or gas protection. Additionally, the type of substrate and the local climate conditions are important factors in your decision-making process.
