Metal Decking Panels

Metal Decking Panels offer a wide range of construction benefits, with reliable strength and stability being chief among them. These panels are perfect for commercial, industrial, and residential projects alike; made from high quality materials like galvanized steel or roof deck composite, they’re designed to last through all types of weather conditions. The panels are lightweight, making installation faster and easier than ever before. And because their design features continuous cross-ribbing for enhanced lateral stiffness and span capability, Metal Decking Panels can support several types of floor finishes from carpet to concrete.

Metal floor decking

Metal floor decking is a form of metal floor deck or profiled steel sheeting used in the construction industry for a variety of purposes. It's typically used with concrete and steelwork to form composite floor systems, but can also be employed as part of a built-up roof system, providing lightweight and cost-effective benefits. This metal decking in tandem with steel frames are one of the most efficient and popular structural solutions for multi-storey structures. And it can even act as metal siding rather than being solely used for composite floors. Thus metal decking has become an invaluable material with many tools at its disposal to make buildings more durable, reliable and sustainable.

There are numerous other benefits of composite metal deck floor systems.

Metal deck roof systems are a popular choice for many metal construction projects. Not only is installation quick and easy, even for complex metal layouts, but the metal cladding also acts as a sturdy working platform and can be re- accessed by other trades almost immediately after fitting. Furthermore, metal deck roofs have the benefit of reducing slab weight as well as frame and foundation loading, meaning that fewer materials are used in construction! Delivery and storage requirements are also minimal thanks to metal's inherent transportability - perfect if space constraints on or around site make storing large volumes of material impossible. The metal deck has the added advantage of providing integral ceiling and services fixings, adding to the already impressive fire rating that can reach up to 4 hours! An ideal choice for any metal construction project!

Types and uses of Metal floor Deck

There are two overarching types of metal floor deck: composite deck and form deck. Each of these types has several varieties in different widths, depths, and gauges.

Composite floor deck

Composite floor deck that uses galvanized steel and aluminum alloys. It is lightweight yet incredibly strong, making it an ideal candidate for high-traffic interior commercial spaces. The metal also helps to protect the building against harsh weather conditions and can be used as a roof deck, siding or for other structures like wind walls or gates. In addition, composite floor decks come in three depths - 1.5-inch, 2-inch and 3-inch - allowing builders to select the most appropriate size for their particular project needs. The metal is strongly corrugated metal and comes with embossments designed to interlock with concrete slabs to provide extra strength and stability for flooring systems. This metal solution adds minimal additional weight but exceptional strength for any construction project indoors or out.

Form deck

Metal form deck is a versatile construction material intended for loads carrying and spanning purposes. It provides a permanent steel base for poured, reinforced concrete floor slabs, and it's comprised of deck panels that are typically 9/16 inch, 1 inch and 1.5 inch thick in the shape of a rectangle or square with tapered sides. This steel deck panel is manufactured from galvanized steel to ensure long-term durability, and roof deck products range from .7mm to 2.0mm thickness. In comparison to composite deck, form deck does not have embossments, so it stays separate from the concrete upon installation – more importantly saving time and money on projects while providing stability and lasting quality.

How thick is metal deck?

Metal decking, used to construct metal roof deck systems, is manufactured in a range of different gauges. The most common thicknesses are 16, 18, 20 and 22 Gauge, catering to a variety of requirements in terms of durability and load capabilities depending on the specific application. With all these options available, there is sure to be a metal roof deck system that meets the needs of any project.

Can a deck be made of metal?

Metal roof deck is a common choice for commercial and industrial construction projects due to its durability. Available in both composite and form deck materials, steel roof decks provide a sturdy foundation for applied roofing systems. Composite deck sheets uses embossments designed to interlock with concrete slabs, while form deck provides an improved tensile strength that serves as the permanent steel base for poured concrete floor slabs. With its versatility and structural reinforcement capabilities, metal roof deck is a reliable way to build lasting roofs for all types of structures, from pitched to flat to arched.

What is the maximum span of composite slab?

The installation of steel deck panels or steel roof deck for a composite slab involves careful consideration, as the span between the beams should be no greater than 3.5 m to ensure its strength and rigidity. If higher spans are needed, propping should be used as an additional safety measure. The pitch of corrugations resulting in a standing seam pattern should not exceed 350 mm, while ensuring that the span to depth ratio is less than 35 and an overall thickness of concrete of not more than 90 mm is observed. Moreover, a minimum thickness of 50 mm should be maintained for optimal results.
