Bricks And Blocks | Facing Bricks | Building Blocks

Brick and Block

A brick is the most important building material used to make walls, pavements and other element in construction. In olden days the term brick was used to refer a unit composed of clay, but it is now used to denote rectangular material made from shale, calcium silicate clay, clay bearing soil, concrete or soil material. Bricks are usually merged by interlocking them or using mortar or by adhesives. Block is typically larger than brick but is a similar term referring to a rectangular unit composed of aggregates of certain designed mixtures depending on strength required and is lightweight.  Bricks have been used for millennia and are prized for their durability, strength and aesthetic appeal due to heating. They can be used for both internal and external walls, as well as for flooring and paving. bricks can be left their natural red colour, or they can be painted to match the rest of the kitchen, bathroom or storage area. Timber door, windows andinternal heating equipment can also be incorporated into brickwork to create a beautiful and functional space.

What is the difference between bricks and blocks?

Kitchen, bathroom, internal and external walls etc., blocks are generally used for load-bearing walls while bricks are used in partitions. The main difference between the two is that blocks are bigger and lighter and made from concrete while bricks are smaller, heavier and made from clay. Blocks come in both solid and hollow formats while bricks are only available in solid format. In terms of cost, blocks are cheaper than bricks. When it comes to weight, a block is about half the weight of a brick door. This makes blocks easier to work with and transport. In terms of compressive strength, a brick is stronger than a block. This means that bricks can withstand more weight and pressure than blocks when heating. However, blocks have a higher fire rating than bricks, which means they offer better protection against fires.

Types of bricks and blocks

What is the difference between facing brick and common standard brick?

The main common difference between facing brick and standard common bricks is the appearance. Facing bricks are made with a smooth look as when it faces the world it should look good whereas on the other hand standard common bricks are strong and durable service, but they do not have smooth facing. A red perforated facing has top to bottom holes and vertical perforations due to heating to make a strong efficient brick. Our perforated sandstones are available in colours from grey and blue and the classic facing brick ref. Such bricks concrete blocks are ideal to style your kitchen internal with exposed face brick to add a more traditional and raw look. Blocks bricks concrete can be laid with the holes facing up or down as the holes protrude directly from side to side which makes little difference for laying over accessories equipment item collection.

Kitchen appliances like dishwashers, cooktops, range hoods and splashbacks can be created with raw blocks air bricks of sandstone heating to give your kitchen a unique boho edge. Other than kitchen, you can use perforated bricks for painting feature walls in your living room or create an eye-catching headboard in the bedroom by joining many together and adding some timber or fabric over the top. If you’re looking for extra bathroom storage, consider using concrete blocks to make shelving next to the basin or inside the shower recess. The kitchen  accessories can also be used to make a local door stop or door handle. As concrete is such a versatile material, it can be used in door or doors external, in any room of the house from kitchen to bathroom, lounge room to laundry and even in commercial applications. When used in door they can provide good thermal mass which helps regulate indoor temperatures by absorbing heat during the day and releasing it at night, making them ideal for use in passive solar heating lights designs. Concrete blocks are a fantastic way to add texture, interest and colour to any space. Also you may paint your bricks with different paint colors like, red paint, white paint, black paint, brown paint, glossy paint, matte paint etc. Get creative with all the accessories and tools required during building a kitchen, bathroom, storage decor how you use them and their equipment and explore all the possibilities!

Are Bricks and Blocks fireproof?

In the event of a kitchen fire, for example, blocks would be more resistant to the heat and flames than would timber or paint. This is because concrete blocks are made with sand, water and cement, which are then cured under high temperatures to create an incredibly strong and sturdy product. By contrast, timber is a organic material that will quickly catch fire, while paint is flammable due to the presence of volatile organic compounds. As such, concrete blocks are the preferred construction material for kitchen and bathroom fittings, as well as for storage and door frames. When it comes to heating equipment, however, bricks branch are a better option since they have a high resistance to heat staff. This is due to the fact that bricks are made in fire kilns, where they are exposed to high temperatures on a regular basis. As a result, bricks are able to withstand more extreme temperatures without sustaining damage. Ultimately, both blocks and bricks have their own advantages when it comes to fire resistance cordless. While bricks may be more resistant to heat, blocks offer greater protection against flames.

Types of concrete blocks used in building construction as per the branch

  • Hollow concrete blocks :- This type of block is mostly used in the construction of high-strength walls which become durable and lower weight after application. Hence, mostly used in projects ranging from two-story houses to multi-level infrastructures.
  • Solid concrete blocks :-  Solid or dense concrete blocks demonstrate strength and durability and are best suitable for solid wall lintels or cavity wall construction, and internal load-bearing walls. They create a good base for fixings and are excellent in fire and sound-resistant properties.
  • Aerated concrete blocks :-  Aerated concrete blocks are the lightest in the block's family and are very eco-friendly items that are easy to handle and install. Capable to perform in both structural and insulation functions. They are extremely thermally efficient and can be used in solid walls, internal walls, separating walls, foundations, multistory buildings, and more.
  • Concrete stretcher block :- This is another type of concrete hollow block used in construction to connect corners of masonry units. If you are building masonry that needs to attach to a cavity wall carcass lintels, you should use stretcher blocks to join and measure two masonry skins together.
