Homegrown, kiln dried timber is grown here in the UK. Homegrown timber is the most readily available of the commercial softwoods within the UK

Timber must be graded and kiln dried if it's to be used in internal structural applications as stipulated by building regulations.
Homegrown timber from UK sawmills will make C16 and so will have reduced span capability.

C16 or C24 Graded
C16 is normally the grade that is produced from faster grown UK timber.

Timber can also be graded visually by qualified visual timber graders who assess size, frequency and distribution, shakes, splits and slope of grain. This ensures only the pieces that meet standard limitations are accepted as a grade pass.
